Shady, a middle aged guy who was living his life like any other person, working in an IT company, doing what he likes best, living day by day, when suddenly everything changed.
On August 4th Shady was at work like and other day but around 6 PM everything changed. Two explosions happened in the port of Beirut. When the first one exploded, everyone in the company ran towards the windows to see what was that sound. They gather around and saw a big fire in the port.
In that moment no one understood what was happening but all what they were seeing was fire. Shady starts filming not knowing the nightmare that was about to happen.
And suddenly in glimpse of an eye the second explosion went off. In split of a second all Beirut was gone, destroyed, turned into rubbles, luckily Shady was one of the survivors that was strong enough to tell about the nightmare that he and all the people in Beirut went through.
After the horrible incident Shady found himself on the floor blind, with blood all over his body, hearing all his colleagues that were lying on the floor, praying, some screaming, some calling for help. He hold on to his friend and helped him get up then went to the closet phone that miraculously was still working and he dialed his home number his sister answered and he told her, he loves her and his family, he told her he was about to die, but she kept on giving him the courage to keep on fighting. Then Shady and his coworkers tried to help each other to get out of the building, to try to survive not knowing what happened.
After trying so hard to get out of the shattered building, there was no help, they sat on the side of the road for around an hour, their bodies all ripped, bloody and glass all over. Finally an ambulance came and took them to the hospital, little they knew that the hospitals were damaged too, people were all over each other fighting for their lives. Luckily Shady got the help he needed and went home with wounds all over this body from head to toe. Later he finds out that his long beard has saved his life by blocking shattered glass to get to his neck.
Shady like a lot more Lebanese, sits at home with wounded bodies and frazzled hearts.
From that moment all Lebanese knew that the life they once knew was over, destroyed...
After 2 months of the explosion, shady is still recovering and trying his best to get back stronger than before. A true survivor.
